What’s New in Seattle’s Mobile App Community?

Alex Walz  //  March 19, 2015  //  2 min read

Each month at Appy Hour, we invite local mobile app developers to get up on stage and show off what they’ve been working on. For many small developers, this represents the first real unveiling of their apps and provides an opportunity to practice their presentation, get feedback, and start a conversation.

At our last event, we were fortunate enough to witness the unveiling of two incredible projects coming out of Seattle: tardii and AppTogether.

tardii

tardii

Presented by Seattle transplant Jonathan Kumar, tardii is an upcoming app that puts a price tag on tardiness – while raising money for charity.

“Most everyone has been late at one time or another. For many, being late has cost jobs, grade points, and even relationships.

Tardii is an upcoming app that helps constant truants be accountable to people they agree to meet. The app allows users set a time, place, and financial stake. For each minute the person is late, the app donates the financial stake to a selected charity.” – Jonathan Kumar, Founder

AppTogether

Presented by two grad students from the University of Washington, AppTogether is an upcoming platform match idea creators with developers and designers to create mobile apps in a collaborative environment.

“AppTogether is a novel platform, created by a team of UW CSE and Business students, to 1) allow people with ideas for new mobile apps build teams, generate momentum, and obtain early funding and 2) provide opportunities for developers to network, learn new skills, and work on interesting projects they wouldn’t otherwise be exposed to. We are still in the very early stages, but now our quarter is over and we are at a crossroads. Is our value prop compelling? Would YOU use our platform? Should we carry our project forward? Please go to our site and watch the brief (2.5 min) video. If you like what you see and think we are on to something, please sign up and forward the link to your friends! All feedback is welcome and will be considered.” – Garrett Halls, Co-Founder
