Apptentive Releases iOS SDK 6.0 with New Targeting, Customization, and UI Enhancements

Ryan Galloway  //  March 17, 2022  //  3 min read

We’re celebrating our 11th anniversary with an equally significant milestone for the company: the release of our new iOS SDK 6.0.

Built from the ground-up, this new iOS SDK includes powerful new out-of-the-box features to make it easier for brands to collect customer feedback within their mobile experiences and take action on the voice of the customer.

Closing the Customer Feedback Loop

Proving to your customers that their voice drives impactful change is a powerful way to build loyalty and reduce churn, yet many brands struggle to follow up on their customer’s specific feedback in a personalized way. Our iOS SDK 6.0 includes a new feature, Interaction Response Targeting, providing a scalable way for brands to close their feedback loop. It enables teams to tell customers their voice has been heard and that it drove a specific improvement.

“When customers are heard from, and told as much, they’ll keep talking,” says Robi Ganguly, Apptentive CEO and co-founder. “Now with just a few clicks, every brand can ask questions confidently knowing they are able to follow up with all of their customers in an instant.”

With Interaction Response Targeting, product teams already soliciting customer feedback to drive their roadmap can now delight those very same customers by notifying them in-app when a feature they specifically requested ships, while marketing and research teams can use this same capability to retarget customers for more personalized outreach.

Modernized, WCAG-Compliant Interactions

Our new iOS SDK 6.0 also comes with a new out-of-the-box UI style for all major consumer-facing Apptentive interactions. End customers will see a modernized and simplified experience that feels native to iOS, and the customization capabilities of the new SDK make it possible for developers to personalize Apptentive interactions to be a seamless extension of their brand. Out-of-the-box Apptentive interactions are now WCAG 2.0 AA compliant, with new iOS VoiceOver auditory scripts and clearer error cues.

Migration is Swift

In this audio clip, Apptentive developers, Frank and Luqmaan, discuss the advantages of Swift Package Manager, one of Apple’s preferred methods for including dependencies in your iOS app.

Our new iOS SDK is built with Swift Package Manager, Apple’s preferred method for including dependencies in mobile apps. Developers can easily add, update, and manage dependencies right inside Xcode—no command line or scripting languages needed. Feedback from pilot customers indicates migrating to the new SDK typically takes less than a day of development work.

Apptentive customers looking to migrate to the new iOS SDK 6.0 can get started by reading our iOS SDK Migration Guide in the Apptentive Learning Center.
