Apptentive Named on Seattle Business Magazine’s 2020 List of the Best Companies to Work For

Gloria DaPra  //  September 16, 2020  //  3 min read

Apptentive was honored to be named on Seattle Business Magazine’s 2020 list of the 100 Best Companies to Work For.

Apptentive was founded in 2011 with the mission to make it easier for companies to build stronger relationships with their customers. We wanted to use software to create a beautiful experience for companies to start conversations with their customers, but also listen to them, respond accordingly, and use the insights gained to build a more consumer-centric customer experience.

One of the biggest reasons we made Seattle Business Magazine’s list of best places to work in Seattle is because our entire business is built on this notion that relationships matter. From our teammates to our customers to our partners – we believe in spreading love wherever we go and prioritizing relationships.

“While we don’t often toot our own horn, it’s refreshing to reflect back on what makes Apptentive such an exceptional place to work during these uncertain times. We work tirelessly to ensure we’re providing a healthy environment in which our teammates grow and shine,” Gloria DaPra, Director of People at Apptentive

We value diversity and strive to fill our office with people of different backgrounds and identities. Since our vision is to give a voice to every customer, we also want to give a voice to every employee. We hire people, not robots. That’s why we help you balance work with your family, friends, hobbies, and health.

We also have a set of specific values that guide how we treat one another, interact with our customers, and build our product.

  1. DELIVER CUSTOMER LOVE. We are committed to taking a customer-first approach to our processes and our product. We listen first and embrace the emotional connection of human beings, especially in our customer relationships.
  2. OWN YOUR RESULTS. We view ownership of our individual results as a responsibility to the overall team. We do not place blame on others or argue “that’s not my job.”
  3. BE TRANSPARENT. We are committed to promoting trust and accountability. We share what’s going on and why, so everyone can make the best decisions possible.
  4. CELEBRATE CHANGE: FAIL, LEARN, AND IMPROVE. We celebrate experiments, risk-taking, and adaptability as opportunities to learn. We focus on improvement and execution, rather than valuing status and comfort.
  5. BRING YOUR BEST SELF. We help each person invest in their professional development and encourage everyone to ask for help when they need it, both personally and professionally.
  6. TAKE ACTION. We prioritize smart decisions made quickly over perfect decisions made slowly. We understand that while we might not always agree, our ability to disagree and commit effectively is crucial to our success
  7. SUCCEED TOGETHER. We respect and empower one another, invest in strong communication, and collaborate because we are all on the same team. We know people love Apptentive because anyone in the company will help you.

These values have become even more important as we shift and adapt to our “new normal.

“We’re working hard to preserve the company culture, replicate an online environment that fosters relationships, embrace technology to encourage collaboration, and make sure all new innovations reflect our values,” Robi Ganguly, Apptentive CEO and Co-founder

Some additional highlights from the last year or so include:

  • Named as one of just 21 Washington-based companies to make the 2019 Deloitte’s Technology Fast 500 list.
  • Honored on Built In Seattle’s Best Places to Work List for 2020
  • Introduced “Days of Action” in which we encourage teammates to participate in civic engagement activities of their choice by providing additional paid time off.
  • Analyzed thousands of pieces of mobile customer feedback data across 800+ iOS and Android apps with more than 5,000 active users in our 2020 Mobile Engagement Benchmark Report, helping brands understand how they stack up to their competitors.
  • Established and fostered a new employee-led Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee.
  • Started a new Apptentive Thanksgiving tradition, we spent time giving back to our community.
  • Published the Ultimate Guide to Customer Experience, which encapsulates everything we believe to be true about creating exceptional mobile experiences.

If our values align with yours, this might be the place for you. We’re always on the hunt for extraordinary people to join our team.
