September Feature Updates: Surveys, Data Exports, & More
Happy Tuesday, Apptentive community! We’ve got some great new product news for our customers across all tiers.
Read on for detailed updates around Surveys, data export options, and more.
Introducing Read-Only Surveys
You asked, we listened. Once your survey has begun collecting data, we previously locked out access to see the content and targeting selections you have set. Well, no more!
Customers are now able to go back in and review your survey settings in a read-only mode. Want to set up another survey and make sure you don’t target the same group of people? Now you can with read-only surveys.
Here’s a peek at the new read-only functionality:
New and Improved Data Exports
Have a lot of survey responses or conversations? Want to analyze them in a spreadsheet app? As a paying Apptentive customer, you are now able to export your Message Center conversations and your survey responses to a CSV directly from inside of Apptentive.
The exports include additional device data for each response so you can pivot, sort, and graph to your heart’s content! After initiating an export, look for it in your Notifications drawer to download (as shown in the image below).
View Events by Date Range
It’s important to add ten to twenty events to your app so you have the flexibility to target Interactions to various important moments within your app. Now you can review the number of times each event has been reached by your customers in a given time frame. QA teams will find this especially helpful while testing so you can review how events increment during your current testing phase.
Check out how the new date ranges make sorting and keeping track of Events even easier:
Saying Goodbye to Android 2.x and iOS 5 and 6
As you know, we just released a new set of Apptentive SDKs featuring an all-new Message Center. With this release, we also dropped support for older OSs. So, with Apptentive SDK 2.0 and above, we will now support iOS 7, iOS 8, and iOS 9 as well as Android versions 3.0 (API 11) and greater.
Additionally, we have a couple new requirements for our Android SDK:
- We’ve added dependencies to the Android v4 Support Library, the v7 AppCompat Library, and v7 CardView Library.
- In line with Android best practices, you’re required to build with the latest version of the Android SDK, API level 22.
SDK Support Schedule
We make changes to our SDKs regularly so that we can always provide you with the best tools to have conversations with your customers. With this latest release, we will be employing a new schedule for how long we support each version of our SDKs.
Based on the major version’s initial release (SDK numbers with a unique first digit, such as 2.x.x), we will:
- Provide patches and improvements for one year
- Provide patches for extreme security issues for the period of 12-18 months
- Stop support after 18 months
Note: We recommend you upgrade to the latest Apptentive SDK regularly to take advantage of new features, optimizations and bug fixes. If that’s not possible with your release cycle, we especially recommend you update to the latest major version within 12 months of it’s release to not be affected by our support schedule.
We’re excited to continue bringing you the most cutting-edge products and feature updates in the mobile communication market. Have questions or thoughts on this set of updates? Leave your thoughts in the comments below!
