Marketing and Software – Seth Godin’s Take

Another great Seth Godin video, this time about why marketing is too important to be left to the marketing people.

Towards the end of the video, Godin discusses his book, Tribes and asks a question that we think is really important for app developers:

Are you going to make it easy to get in your tribe or are you going to make it hard?

As he outlines, there are reasons to go with either approach, so it’s a real question that app developers should be thinking about. The important thing is really selecting one side, understanding why and really committing to it (another excellent concept he discusses in his talk).

(also, remember, nobody joins a tribe that’s average, so keep making awesome apps)
