You might be wondering why we're making the application code publicly available on GitHub. The answer is simple - we've got a philosophy here at Apptentive that drives all of our decisions:

The Client Layer is Designed for Customization:

Code that goes in your applications is made publicly available so that you can take our suggestions and improve on them if you see fit. We don't want to limit the look and feel of your feedback mechanisms. Take our code, customize it, tell us what you'd improve on and share it.

Our API is Designed to Grow With Your Needs:

We're constantly working on ways to improve the API and make it more powerful. Many of you might not tap into every aspect of the API. For example, if you just want to collect feedback, you might choose to not enable screenshots or e-mail collections. We Make Our Money by Helping You Manage The Feedback You Receive:

Our administrative capabilities and the web apps we build for you to access them are where we think you'll see long-lasting value. Since the client code is publicly available, you're free to use it to build your own administrative tools to manage feedback. We happen to think that you'd be better served by leaving that job to us and we'll work hard to make sure you get your money's worth!
